Dear Subscriber,

June's around the corner and it’s officially summertime in Sweden. This month brings vibrant celebrations and a sense of renewal as we embrace the long, sunny days.

Since 1983, Sweden has celebrated its National Day on June 6th. This date marks two significant historical events: the election of Gustav Vasa as king in 1523, which established Sweden as an independent state, and the adoption of an important new constitution in 1809.

Read below for upcoming events, recaps of past events, member news, and a farewell note from our project coordinator Alaska who´s moving back to Sweden to continue her professional journey.

It has been one year since I moved to Taiwan and joined SCCT. It is now time for me to move forward with my professional journey. Reflecting on my time in Taipei, I am grateful for the many fascinating individuals I've met and the meaningful connections I've made. As I return to Sweden, I look forward to continuing my career, creating new partnerships, and further strengthening the ties between Sweden and Taiwan. I have learned so much during this year, and I especially want to thank Keli for being an exceptional boss, coworker, teammate, and friend throughout this journey.

Dear Friends and Colleagues of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce Taipei community!

The SCCT was founded in 2012 to strengthen communication and collaboration among both its members and also with organisations and people advancing Swedish-Taiwanese commercial and social relations. Together we strive to reinforce Swedish values, including good environmental, social and governance practices within our community and in general.

Because of this mission I believe in the SCCT’s potential to be impactful and to innovate for the greater good. I’ve witnessed how SCCT companies and individuals can exemplify Swedish and Taiwanese cooperation for creating meaningful solutions to common challenges for common advancement. I continue to be engaged in the chamber because I believe in its mission and our future together.

I am currently working with the SCCT board to develop exciting plans and engagements for the years ahead! As part of this process, my role will transition from being the employed CEO to volunteer supporter for the SCCT's future staff team. I am happily switching hats because I believe this is a good development for the chamber.

*Recruitment for an Executive Director will be publicised later this week. Send your expression of interest for the role by writing to: recruitment@swedchamtw.org, June 15th.

At the end of May we say farewell to Alaska with much gratitude for her internship with us. Alaska put her heart into everything she did with the SCCT, and she now has a place in our hearts. Our experience together has been fantastic and the foundation for a lifelong friendship!

In June we will welcome our new intern from Sweden, Louise Lau. We will introduce Louise more thoroughly in our June newsletter.

Mark your calendars: Our Annual General Meeting will be held on September 12th where we will vote on the new Board of Directors, and an electronic voting option will be available this year. Several Board positions are available. Being a Director is an excellent opportunity to lead and contribute to our business community’s development. If you are interested in being a candidate for the Board or want to know more about the position, please contact the SCCT at board-director@swedchamtw.org by July 30th.

In summary, thank you for being a member of the SCCT community and for your friendship and cooperation during my term as CEO. I will continue in this function until we have a new Executive Director in place, then I will support the office operations as needed throughout the autumn, and afterwards will be an active SCCT member!

I wish you all a June blooming with new growth and possibilities!

Executive Dinner for Gold and Silver Members | Event Recap
Executive Dinner for Gold and Silver Members | Event Recap
The Swedish Chamber collaborated with Earnestos restaurant to create a unique Nordic X Asia fusion menu. Each dish was beautifully inspired with a personal story by the chef owner Ernest about his experience living in Scandinavia, Singapore and Taiwan.

The purpose of this meal was to thank those who have contributed much to the SCCT including our Gold and Silver Members: Ericsson, IKEA, Atlas Copco, Electrolux, Scania, TCO Development and Vana Living.

The SCCT creates value for our members by creating occasions for direct dialogue. Commerce is an outcome of people connecting, so the Chambers works to build those connections.

We look forward to more meaningful conversations with you in the future.
In the meantime, we highly recommend Earnestos for a delicious and innovative meal!
