About us

The Swedish Chamber of Commerce Taipei (SCCT) works to promote and assist Swedish and Sweden-related companies on the Taiwanese market. Our goal is to provide the best possible services for our members. By studying and advancing the commercial and industrial relations between Sweden and Taiwan, we are able to provide our member companies with a platform for making their voices heard among decision-makers. We put significant time and effort into promoting Sweden culturally, as strengthening the Sweden brand is of high importance and value both to us and our member companies. This goal is achieved by arranging trade fairs providing marketing opportunities for our brands and the Sweden brand in general. Our biggest such event is the annual Sweden Day Taiwan event. We also organize events of a more social nature. These events are aimed both at the Swedish community here in Taiwan and people of other nationalities with an interest in Sweden. They include midsummer celebrations and an annual crayfish party and can be seen as part of our cultural mission. In short, we connect Sweden and Taiwan.     🔎 Special Paper: Why Taiwan Matters to Europe 🌐 The Taiwan issue is known to be sensitive for Beijing, one of its so-called core interests. Taiwan has no diplomatic recognition among European Union member states but informal relations and cooperation between Taiwan and Europe are nevertheless extensive in many areas. ❗ Understanding Taiwan’s significance to Europe is increasingly important in order to understand the foundations on which current relations rest and what Europe’s stake in the Taiwan Strait is. To examine and expound on why Taiwan matters to Europe, ISDP's Stockholm Taiwan Center has brought together four contributions from distinguished experts for a Special Paper. 🖱 Link to the publication: https://lnkd.in/dGdpcV7G 👏 Many thanks for the outstanding contributions: Simona A.     Today is Sweden's Overshoot Day. If everyone lived like Swedes, we'd need 4 planets. On the 21st of April 2024, Sweden used up its share of resources for the rest of the year. From today, Sweden uses more resources than the planet can sustainably replenish. The good news is that the date moved from the 3rd of April in 2023 to the 21st of April in 2024! That's a significant progress! If Sweden can do it, other countries can too! We have to move the date. Let's redefine our relationship with waste and resources by: Using less. Using for longer.     This week was quite busy, with several concurrent events. Gabriella, Barton, and Annika attended the World Circular Economy Forum WCEF in Brussels. Meanwhile, Martin presented TCO Certified at an event hosted by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce Taipei and Taiwan Tech Arena in Taipei. The main goal of this matchmaking event was to connect Taiwanese start-ups with Swedish companies to discuss sustainability.
