Meeting with the European Union Chamber of Commerce   We had a productive and insightful meeting with the representatives of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China. We met the Head of Chinese Government Affairs, Ms. Hou, the National Membership Manager, Mr. Syvanen, and the Coordinator for Legal & Competition Working Group, Mr. Bliss.   We first introduced the Würth Group to them, highlighting our history, values, and achievements in the global market. We also shared our vision for the Chinese market, where we have been operating since 1994. We expressed our commitment to providing high-quality products and services to our customers, as well as contributing to the social and environmental development of China.   We exchanged opinions and observations on the status quo of foreign-invested companies in China, especially in the context of the recent regulatory changes and market challenges. We appreciated the valuable insights and advice from the EU Chamber, as well as their efforts to promote a fair and transparent business environment for European companies in China. We also discussed the potential areas of cooperation and synergy between the Wuerth Group and the EU Chamber, such as the Legal & Competition Working Group, the Corporate Social Responsibility Forum, and the Business Confidence Survey.   We look forward to more cooperation and dialogue with the EU Chamber, as well as other stakeholders in the Chinese market. Delighted to reflect on our participation in the "China-Netherlands-China-EU Economic and Trade Portal" forum held in The Hague on December 17th. Hosted collaboratively by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in the European Union and the Dutch Association of Chinese Enterprises, this forum was a testament to the enduring importance of global collaboration in trade. Our General Manager had the privilege to present our sustainability initiatives, showcasing GIA Centre's commitment to positive change. This event provided a platform for rich discussions and connections, emphasizing the vital role of businesses in fostering economic cooperation. Keynote speakers, including esteemed figures like Tan Jian and Peng Gang, highlighted the significance of collaboration in driving prosperity. We were particularly encouraged by discussions on strengthening ties between China and the Netherlands, echoing our own dedication to fostering mutual understanding. The forum's insights, including the presentation of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in the EU's flagship report, are invaluable as we navigate the evolving global landscape. 🌐 The EU's top trade negotiator, Valdis Dombrovskis, has issued a strong warning to China during his visit. 🔍 Dombrovskis emphasizes the EU's determination to ensure fair competition and protect its interests. 💼 Key concerns include China's lack of reciprocity and an uneven playing field in trade relations. 🚗 The EU recently launched an anti-subsidy probe into Chinese electric vehicles (EVs), sparking controversy. 📊 The EU argues that this investigation is necessary to safeguard domestic jobs and supply chains. 🤝 Dombrovskis engages in bilateral meetings with Chinese counterparts and European business representatives. 🔒 The EU clarifies that its approach is based on economic security, not protectionism, and is risk-based. 🤝 This diplomatic dialogue could pave the way for a summit between President Xi Jinping and Ursula von der Leyen.

Jaishankar, "Indo-Pacific is not tomorrow's forecast but yesterday's reality". It has undoubtedly emerged as the defining geo-political construct of this century! What happens in the Indo-Pacific would have substantial impact across various domains: #Security 🔐, #Technology 👨💻, #Trade 💱 , #ClimateChange 🗻, and #HumanRights ✊. Sounds like a lot of reading, right? But, here's the good news: You don't have to read through tons of online articles anymore to understand what's going on in this region. We have summarized our collective #insights and #policy suggestions on each of these thematic pillars in our 9-page communique! 📑 Alongside a brilliant cohort of 50 young leaders from #Asia and #Europe, I had the honour of contributing to it in the "Security" Track 🤝 To give you a preliminary idea and get the conversation started, here are some of the key recommendations of the young leaders of Asia and Europe who gathered at the 2022 Young Indo-Pacific Forum: 1. Develop a cross-regional joint framework and platform on transnational hybrid threats. 🌏 2. Promote multi-stakeholder and #multilateral #digital co-operation through good practices and responsible exchange between the EU and the Indo-Pacific. 💻 3. Downgrade untrustworthy results on search engines, promote media literacy courses, and establish clear terminology guidelines in a multi-stakeholder effort. 🖱 4. Focus on an ambitious and balanced interregional trade agreement, strengthen #FTAs, and strengthen sectoral cooperation between the EU and the #ASEAN. 💳 5. On 30-31 May, the Trade and Technology Council (TTC) between USA and EU to be held in Luleå, northern Sweden - at the forefront of the green and digital transitions - will address global trade, economic and technology issues. The TTC will not only strengthen US-EU cooperation in these transitions but also create a united front against Russia by establishing a common transatlantic export controls strategy. https://lnkd.in/d5rz8Th7
